Viewsonic ViewPad 10pro dual-OS tablet brings Windows and Android closer

Viewsonic has recently introduced a new version of the its tablet Viewpad, the ViewPad 10 pro. ViewPad 10pro will bring in a new era of tablets as this one boasts of a dual-OS, the first of its kind.

Yes, you read it right. ViewPad 10pro packs a mighty hard Windows 7 OS alongwith the favourite mobile OS by Google, Android 2.3. Viewsonic says there’s no dual booting required to power on the Android, there’s just the app integrated on the Windows homescreen to take you there. CNET tested the Android performance on the tab and says it switches from Windows to Android in just 3 seconds and Android to Windows almost instantaneously. Although i don’t know how good Windows 7 OS will prove for the tablet users, as its not quite the tablet-friendly software one would have a go for.

Another neat feature of this tab is its battery backup which is seen on none of the tablets in its competition. Viewsonic, the manufacturer of some of the most top visual displays in the world claims that the tablet can run upto 8 hours straight on a single charge. This is a great add-in on the tablet featurelist as most businessmen prefer a long running tablet which is equally efficient as well.

The one biggest con i found in this tablet is its weight. Weighing in at a hefty 800g, this tab will prove as a troublesome to carry! The key goal of any tab is that it should be easy to carry around which this tab fails to deliver. Apart from this one minor drawback everything else looks promising.

As for the specs, the Viewsonic ViewPad 10 pro is powered by a 1.5 GHz Intel Atom Z670 processor, 1024×600 capacitive touch screen, Intel GMA 600 graphics card, 2GB in-built memory, expandable upto 32 GB via microSD slot, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for video conferencing, HDMI port for 1080p media playback, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and a USB port too.

VERDICT: My verdict on this device is that if you are a user who likes Windows 7 and wants to migrate from a desktop to a touch screen interface and want to enjoy the combined feel of an Android device then i would say give it a go! Don’t look back, this might be just the tab you were looking for and also the battery backup this tab offers is more than OK.

  • ohh wow. Even though it is heavier than other tablets I would really like the versatility . But would wait till a newer one came out so I don’t have to deal with bugs and glitches.

  • As battery backup more important for any tablet, in my opinion if it’s battery back is more than people expectation then it will defiantly be the “KING” . Soon Windows 8 will update hope it will also update with windows 8.

  • Well this tablet seems to just fine for every use. Windows 7 for complex applications and android for better usage.
