The Evolution Of the Geek [Infographic]

The GeekToday I came across nearly four to five websites with the keyword “GEEK” in the domain name and I wondered what’s so special with that word. I just wanted you to know what I learnt from Wikipedia: The word geek is a slang term, denoting individuals as “One who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, etc.”

This word comes from English dialect geek, geck: fool, freak; from Low German geck, from Middle Low German. The root geck still survives in Dutch and Afrikaans gek: crazy, as well as some German dialects, and in the Alsatian word Gickeleshut: geek’s hat, used in carnivals.

Well that was just a short recap, interested to know more about the play on the word GEEK? Scroll down to learn more.

  • lol pretty fun to see all those different Geek Styles, for me I’ve always thought of a geek as someone that is always nerdy and is very book smart, always studying and what not, and is some what of an annoying person, sort of like an Urkel.
