Snapdragon Roundtable: Shows off Mighty Smartphone and Tablet Processors

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon roundtable held yesterday(May 18, 2011) in Bangalore,India showed off their mighty Snapdragon for smartphones and tablets. This article covers highlights of the Snapdragon Roundtable 2011.

What is Snapdragon?

Snapdragon is a family of mobile system on chips by Qualcomm. To keep it simple- All your android powered HTC Smart Phones are mostly powered by Snapdragon. Rendering High graphics and enabling you to play games as fast as in Playstation, efficiently using your phone’s battery, GPS, memory, connectivity – all kind of gymnastics are performed by a ‘smart’ chip which is in your ‘smart’ phone. In case if you are wondering, Yes, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon belongs to this “Chip” category making your phones run faster and faster. (Faster, Smarter, Better :) )

Snapdragon Roundtable was recently held in Bangalore, India. Lots of interesting stats addressing the current smart phones, tablets were unveiled.. The presentation started with some astonishing (History) facts like “World’s First Mobile Processor at 1GHz” [Snapdragon QSD 8X50] , “World’s first mobile single core at 1.4 GHz” [Snapdragon MSM 8X55]

Snapdragon and the Internet.

The recent html5 buzz is here to stay leading innovations in the way the web is accessed.

“We run Internet videos faster” says Snapdragon mentioning about the hardware acceleration for flash and html5, support for in-page playback of html5 videos & clutter free flash video playback.

Snapdragon in India

Snapdragon in 2012:

Snapdragon has unveiled its upcoming stuff for the year 2012.. Apps like Augmented Reality, Movie on the Go, Console quality gaming, Stereoscopic 3D is the area of focus and also it is ready to release “Snapdragon Gen Next” in the year 2012 which boasts of Quad CPU which runs at 2.5 GHz, Full 1080p Display support and more with 4G!

Being one of the attendee of Snapdragon Roundtable, I had a wonderful time checking the demos pieces, playing some augmented reality games which runs on their gen next processors, wonderful discussions with bloggers and qualcomm team.

    my god dats a great news! Snapdragon is just evolving like a PC processor, quad core, 1080p and all! surely in the gen-next we will all leave our PCs and be on our tablets and smartphones 24×7… lol! :)
