July 22:The Total Solar Eclipse in India

India is going to witness the Twenty first century’s longest solar eclipse on July 22.
This is one of the rarest oppurtunities to sky gazers and scientists to understand this very grand spectacle of Nature.
Eclipse begins at 5.28 am IST, the morning sky would soon turn into a dark night on the Eclipse day.
This Total Dark May Prevail for about 3 to 6 six minutes.
The Most Interesting Thing here is, it is possible to watch planets and other stars in the sky during the total eclipse.

Which are the first Regions in India to get affected on Eclipse Day?
Totality starts after sunrise in Surat.
The 200 kilometres wide belt passes through parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar & North-Eastern states of India.

Places which experience total Solar Eclipse:
Indore, Bhopal, Jodalpur, Varanasi and Patna.

According to NASA, there will be mean cloudiness between 60 to 80 percent as July is the mansoon month for India.
A clear View of Eclipse may not be possible for people in West Cost areas like Bhavnagar, Surat and Vadodora.
Good News for enthusiastics, COX & KINGS is chartering a 737-700 Aircraft to fly above the clouds, under the lunar shadow with tickets costing Rupees 79,000.

The Eclipse ends at 7.19 am IST.

  • i had heard in news that it can be visible from Surat so me and my frds went to Surat to view solar eclipse but because of rainy clouds coming in between we were unable to have the real view of it 🙁

  • I have seen the video of this solar eclipse on the youtube and after seeing it, I was very surprised to seeing it because I have not seen these type of solar eclipse before but at that time, the solar eclipse in India was the breaking news on the TV so I have watched it on the Youtube.
