Adobe Flash, flex,Microsoft silver-light most were made to deliver RIA experience. The only problem was that these were plugins that work on browsers. A browser itself couldn’t deliver a rich experience without the help of these renderer’s.The recent spark off between Apple and Adobe has panelized a major question ? Is flash like application really needed to deliver a rich user experience . Appple was is and mostly will be the company that sets standards in UI .I’m sure most would agree . Even if ubuntu 10.04 offer a better UI. I’d say that these ideas were borrowed from apple UI. Steve apparently stresses on UI and the underlying architecture more than other areas .
Apple was very rigid in not allowing flash to incorporate its technology in I-Pad. Steves Thoughts on flash conveys the business diversion that apple is aiming at. For Ages apple has suffered strong competition from microsoft, its own employees . Thats one reason why apple wants to dominate now.
After reading Steves Thoughts on flash i realized that what Steves is trying to convey maybe correct . Why allow a third party propriety technology in a platform like web thats supposed to be open and free for all. Well Steve is a smart old man. What was cooking is Gianduia a replacement for flash that apple is working hard on.
Gianduia might be serious competition to other MVC based web applications .What might be of interest is the fact that Gianduia may gain momentum for one good reason. If that can be used to deliver RIA to I-pad then i’d say lotta developers around the world will be using it. I-pad sales has reached 1 million. Will Gianduia be a success story or not only time can tell but will it give jitters to flash ?? May be.
