Facebook has recently rolled out its new system of verifying accounts of famous personalities. By famous we don’t mean you and I, lol, its just what the world calls as celebrities.
The verification process is invite only, that means Facebook will only invite you if you are popular enough to meet its verification standards. Popular in the sense if you have a huge list of subscribers on Facebook.
The verification process is simple, you upload a copy of your driver’s license or your passport onto Facebook. The people in charge will verify it and if everything is alright, you will get a confirmation message that verification was successful. The documents you uploaded will automatically get deleted after the verification process, although i seriously doubt that, hehe.
If you become a verified person on Facebook you will be entitled to:
- Change your name to pseudonyms or short names such as Stefani Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga will be displayed as Stefani Germanotta (Lady Gaga). You can also just use your nickname Lady Gaga and specify your real name in the About page.
- Your Facebook profile will top the results when somebody searches for your name on Google or any other Search Engine.
- You will earn a spot on the Facebook’s “People to Subscribe To” list.
Oh yea, there’s also a demerit when you get verified on Facebook, only thing being, you don’t get to Flash It. Remember the verified badges on Google+ and the little checkmarks on Twitter, in Facebook there’s no mechanism made, if you unfortunately land up on Lady Gaga’s Poker Face.
This Verification System was what Facebook was lacking big time, not to mention hundreds of impostors sitting on Facebook, daily fooling visitors to join their Facebook page and deluding people by advertising their Facebook profile by illicit means.
