My company just asked me to revive their Orkut account … It’s past mid 2011 and Google+ has already launched after Google failed with Buzz (despite integrating it into Gmail).

It seems like social networking was never really that important for Google. Orkut felt like something they just threw out that to fill the void but never really put in any serious effort behind it. The newer version of Orkut actually looks worse than the previous one. It’s quite messy and tough to use compared to Facebook.
