Today morning, I Just went through the twitter blog and found that, Twitter acquired Tweetie. Tweetie is a popular twitter client for iPhone and iPod Touch. The Company who owns Tweetie got an agreement with Twitter and now they’re recreating Tweetie and naming it ” Twitter or iPhone ” and making it free!
Tweetie which currently costs $2.99 will be renamed “Twitter for iPhone” and be made free in the next few weeks. Here Twitter CEO Evan Williams explains
” We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve entered into an agreement with Atebits (aka Loren Brichter) to acquire Tweetie, a leading iPhone Twitter client. Tweetie will be renamed Twitter for iPhone and made free (currently $2.99) in the iTunes AppStore in the coming weeks. Loren will become a key member of our mobile team that is already having huge impact with device makers and service providers around the world. ”
So, now Tweetie has become the official Twitter client for iPhone and the happy news is they have hired Atebits to keep working on the application.
