10 Awesome Features of Ubuntu 10.04. LTS Release on April 29

Hi, all techies out there!  This is an announcement for you all who are crazy about the new and stable OS’es and of course our Ubuntu OS fans. Ubuntu 10.04 Long Term Support (LTS) codenamed “Lucid Lynx” is about to be released on April 29, 2010. Ubuntu 9.10 codenamed “Karmic Koala” which was released on October 29, 2009 was a huge success.

As we all know, Ubuntu is an Operating System built by a worldwide team of Expert Developers and the best about it is “OPEN SOURCE” i.e. it can be modified, redistributed and passed along your friends and the OS is totally free of cost.

The new features of Ubuntu 10.04 are:

1. This is Ubuntu’s third LTS release after 8.04, the last LTS release. LTS means free security updates and this release guarantees five years free updates for Servers and  three years for Desktops.

2. Better Artwork than 9.10, like better visual effects for the default desktop.

3. Ubuntu 10.04 target boot speed is 10 seconds. Speed is UBUNTU. Thus even a slow CPU is adjusted by Ubuntu. Fast installation too. The minimum time is 20 minutes for complete OS installation.

4. Amazing Boot Experience. A graphical OS selector is implemented for switching between two or more OS’es. A fully revamped Bootscreen which also allows option of installing new updates on shutdown.

5. Ubuntu Software Center. With a simple design it can be used to install and remove software packages and to add repositories for finding, installing and managing new application. In this version we will find an upgraded version of Synaptic, Gdebi and the Update Manager.

6. A new GNOME Desktop environment with a number of great new features.

7. Enhanced applications of Mozilla Firefox, Linux Kernel, KDE, HAL removal for faster bootup.

8. Improved support for nVidia proprietary graphics drivers.

9. Ubuntu’s “CLOUD COMPUTING”. UEC are now automatically discovered and registered.

10. Ubuntu One cloud Storage  for backup and easy sync.
